A Secularist may believe:-
- in Separation of church and state.
- Separation of church and state is a political and legal idea usually identified with the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof… The phrase building a wall of separation between church and state was written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802. - that certain practices or institutions should exist separately from religion or religious belief.
- in promoting secular ideas or values in either public or private settings.
- in a "secularist movement".
- that religion has no place in public life.
- in freedom of religion.
- in freedom from government imposition of religion upon the people.
- in a state that is neutral on matters of belief
- that human activities and decisions, especially political ones, should be based on evidence and fact rather than religious influence.
A Secular Society is one in which the government or state is neutral in relation to any person's religion or belief (or lack of religion or belief) related to our origins and source of morals.
