Atheists beware: those ever so well-adjusted Christians are coming to cure you of your condition
Richard Dawkins is, at present, debunking fortune tellers on Channel 4, so it is with some trepidation that I make a prediction, but given it's the silly season, here we go. I predict that coming soon from our evangelical Christian friends is the "ex-atheist movement". This will be based on the same idea as the "ex-gay movement" – where Christians claim they can "cure" homosexuality through prayer and 'counselling'. It doesn't work of course, but evangelical Christians can't bear the idea that gay people continue to brazenly flout God's edicts and therefore want homosexuals eradicated from the face of the earth. They can't really follow the Hitlerean route of a 'final solution to the gay problem', so they have to try to get rid of the 'abominations' in other ways. Hence: 'reparative therapy' courses should achieve the same end.
Now, though, one of our evangelical friends has concluded that atheists (also an abomination in the sight of the Lord, of course) are actually suffering from a form of autism and are, therefore, intelligent but socially dysfunctional. You can read the theory here.
You can read a rebuttal here.
However, you can bet your bottom dollar that very soon there will be a whole evangelical industry aimed at "curing" atheists of their tragic "condition". Remember, you read it here first.
