Humanism at the movies
The Golden Compass, the film adaptation of the first book of BHA distinguished supporter Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy, was released on 5^th December. It follows the adventures of Lyra, a young girl from an alternate world populated by witches, ‘Gyptians and armoured bears, and ruled by a sinister cabal, the Magisterium (a theocratic government in the books, though this is played down in the movie).
