Subject: Analogies and Metaphors
I've always been a stickler for puns and the like The Creationists use some famous Analogies and Metaphors in their persistant misrepresentation of science and I have been developing some way of countering these. It would be good if we do do a survey and form a picture of how well known these analogies are and what the general public takes them to mean. I would like to start this off by asking the people here about two of them: Without doing a Google search, please answer the following questions about: ANALOGY 1) Monkeys, Typewriters and the works of Shakespeare. ANALOGY 2) A Whirlwind/Tornado in a junk yard assembling a Boeing 747 jet. Q1) Have you heard anything about these analogies? Q2) If so what have you heard? Q3) Are the analogies helpful or misleading? Emo. |
